What is Unix?

Unix can be considered as a great operative systems family (including FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, BSD, AIX, System V, SunOS, various Linux distributions, etc.), with similar commands and features, available for a variety of hardware architectures (for example x86, alpha, etc.).

FreeBSD

FreeBSD is an advanced operating system for a variety of hardware architectures including x86, amd64, Alpha/AXP, and others. It is derived from BSD, the version of UNIX developed at the University of California, Berkeley.
