On the FreeBSD-Current list has been reminded the default values for the CFLAGS variable are "-O2 -pipe". This is only true for CURRENT branch. This optimization is good to build kernel + world but at the moment many ports have a few problems to build with this trick. To build these ports it is advised set CFLAGS to "-O -pipe" in your /etc/make.conf file. For more details read the official message.

The FreeBSD 5.3 Release Candidate 2 is out. It fix some bugs found in the test period of the previous RC1. This release is intended for early adopters and those wishing to help find and/or fix bugs.
